What is a Dynamic Island for Mac?
Since 2021 on the MacBook Pro, and 2022 on the MacBook Air, the display has a notch at the top for the camera. macOS leaves it empty: a black shape the menu bar simply works around. A "Dynamic Island for Mac" is an app that puts that space to work, the way the iPhone turned its own cut-out into a live, expanding display.
Glance is that app. It sits in the notch, stays invisible when nothing is happening, and grows just enough to show what matters right now: the song that is playing, a file you parked, your next meeting, or an AI agent that needs your approval.
Smaller than a window, faster than an app
There is no window to arrange and no dock icon to click. Hover over the notch and it opens into a panel; move on and it folds back. Everything you would normally open three apps for is gathered in the few pixels you already look at.

- Shelf and AirDrop to park and send files.
- Calendar, reminders and weather for the rest of your day.

A notch that glows
What sets Glance apart is light. Instead of a flat black pill, the notch wears a thin line of light that reacts to what is happening, like a calm halo while agents work in the background. Pick the style that fits your desk: the clean Classic line, the deep Volumetric glow, the retro Pixelated texture, the softer Wet rays, or Glance's own organic Bioluminescence.
Native, light and private
Glance is a native macOS app, notarized by Apple and updated automatically. It is built to use little CPU and memory while it waits in the notch. There is no account, and what it shows you, from notifications to agent output, stays on your Mac. Try it in your browser first with the live demo, or browse every feature.
Questions
Does the Mac have a Dynamic Island?
Not built in. Dynamic Island is an iPhone feature. Glance is a separate macOS app that brings the same idea to the MacBook notch: live activity that expands when it matters and hides when it does not.
Is Glance made by Apple?
No. Glance is an independent Mac app, not affiliated with Apple. It is notarized by Apple, which means macOS has checked it before it runs.
What can I customize?
The light style of the notch (Classic, Volumetric, Pixelated, Wet rays or Bioluminescence), the home view themes, and which modules you use.
What does it cost?
A one-time $12 license for up to 2 Macs, after a 3-day free trial. No subscription, no account.
