Glance Chrome Activities

Privacy, in plain language.

Glance Chrome Activities connects Google Chrome with the Glance application installed on the same Mac. This policy explains the limited information the extension handles and why.

Last updated: September 18, 2026

Information handled

For Chrome downloads, the extension handles the download identifier, displayed file name, lifecycle state, and whether Chrome reports that the download needs attention. It does not send the download source URL, referrer, full local file path, or file contents to Glance.

If the user separately enables ChatGPT or Claude web support, the extension handles the supported site name, the current conversation route, a locally generated activity identifier, and lifecycle states such as running, completed, failed, cancelled, or suspended. It observes only structural lifecycle controls needed to determine these states. It does not collect prompts, responses, attachments, account credentials, screenshots, or general browsing history.

How the information is used

The extension uses this information only to display browser activity in the Glance macOS application and to return the user to the relevant tab or completed download when requested.

Local storage and transmission

The latest activity state is stored locally in Chrome until it is acknowledged by the locally installed Glance application. The local queue is bounded to 200 items, with completed items removed first as the limit is reached.

Communication with Glance uses Chrome Native Messaging and a local service bound to 127.0.0.1. The extension does not transmit browser activity to Glance servers, advertising networks, data brokers, or other third parties.

Permissions and user control

  • Download access is used only for the Chrome download activity feature.
  • Access to ChatGPT and Claude is optional and requested separately for each service.
  • Users can revoke either optional site permission from the extension popup or Chrome settings.
  • Removing the extension deletes its Chrome local storage. Disconnecting the integration removes the local bridge and its token.

Limited Use

Glance does not sell user data, use it for advertising or creditworthiness, or allow employees or contractors to read users' browser activity. The use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
